Board of Directors elected for VDMA ’ s WG Laser
At the Autumn meeting of the VDMA Working Group Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing ( WG Laser ), the members held an election to complete the Board of Directors . The Chairman and Deputy Chairman were also confirmed .
Dr . Hagen Zimer , Member of the Management Board and CEO Laser Technology , TRUMPF , and Nikolas Meyer , Head of Sales and Industry Management and Member of the Executive Board , Weil Technology , were newly elected to the Board .
Dr . Christoph Ullmann was confirmed as Chairman of the WG Laser and Dr . Stefan Ruppik was confirmed as his deputy . The newly elected Board of Directors is made up as follows :

Promotion for Meyer
Since 1 November 2023 , Nikolas Meyer has been the new head of sales and industry management at Weil Technology GmbH in Müllheim , South Baden ( Germany ). He now heads the sales , industry management and TechCentre departments at Weil Technology . The company produces laser cutting , welding , pressing and stamping systems ( including rollformers ).
Nikolas Meyer has many years of experience in sales management for mechanical engineering . He has been working as a technical sales manager with
Weil Technology headquarters in South Baden , Germany .
The VDMA Working Group Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing ( WG Laser ) represents the interests of 50 companies from Germany , Austria and Switzerland vis-à-vis politicians , business partners , the interested public and the media .
The circle of member companies includes manufacturers of beam sources ; laser processing systems ; suppliers of components with direct reference to the end application as well as research institutes and universities . WG Laser has been active since 1988 as an
technical and disciplinary leadership in an international environment for over ten years .

New ALFED President
The Aluminium Federation ( ALFED ) in the UK
Mark Allen . announced , on 6 December 2023 , that Mechatherm ’ s
sales director , Mark Allen , will be its new President . The current presidency of Mike Dines is coming to an end . Mark Allen will join the ALFED Board , “ helping to lead the line in driving ALFED forwards between now and the close of 2025 .” ALFED represents over 150 members across the entire supply chain .
“ With over 25 years of experience in the aluminium industry and his role at Mechatherm that sees him leading a globally successful sales team into some of the biggest aluminium projects in the world , we have no doubt that Mark will be an invaluable addition to the ALFED Board ,” commented the Federation .
