LAMIERA in focus

Promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE ( the Italian machine tools , robots and automation systems manufacturers ’ association ) and organised by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU , the LAMIERA sheetmetal trade show will take place in Milan , Italy , at fieramilano Rho from 10-13 May 2023 .
“ In the first six months of 2022 , after an extremely positive 2021 , Italian industry in this sector confirmed growth trends , registering double-digit increases in global trade data [ for ] sheet-metal forming and cutting machines ,” commented UCIMU .
“ From January-June 2022 , its global exports of sheet-metal forming and cutting machine tools ( laser , waterjet , plasma etc .) registered a 12 % upturn compared to the same period in 2021 ( totalling more than eight billion euros ). Worldwide imports also grew by 16 %, exceeding six billion euros ,” it added .
Italian government tax incentives on capital equipment purchases ( including Industry 4.0 equipment ) will also continue next year for Italian manufacturers .
The exhibition will showcase , amongst others , machines / systems and equipment for sheet-metal processing and cutting ; tubes ; sections ; presses ; dies and moulds ; welding ; surface treatment and finishing ; components ;

tooling and fastener materials .
Six technological themes at the show , with an increasingly crucial impact on the sector , will be :
■ Factory of the Future , dedicated to software and technologies for connectivity ; data management ; automation ; robotics and digital systems applied to sheet-metal processing .
■ Saldatech , offering an overview of the wide and diversified world of welding .
■ Fastener Industry , presenting an overview of screws , bolts , fastening and clamping systems .
■ World of Heat and Surface Treatments , hosting machines , systems , accessories and consumables centred on pre- and post-production treatments for ferrous and non-ferrous materials .
■ Metrology & Testing , focused on testing , measurement and quality-control systems and machines .
■ BLECH Italy Service for technical subcontracting and services .
LAMIERA will also include a full programme of in-depth cultural , themed meetings arranged by the organisers and exhibitors . The meetings will be hosted at LAMIALAMIERA , an arena that will be set up in one of the exhibition halls . The trade show will take place alongside ‘ Made in Steel ’, the exhibition dedicated to the production chain of steel , which will be held in the halls next to those occupied by LAMIERA . n

Yaskawa Europe and Alma agree partnership

Yaskawa Europe , an industrial robotics company , and Alma , a specialist in offline programming ( OLP ) for welding robots , have announced the signature of a partnership agreement . Within the framework of this agreement , in line with the historical collaboration between the two organisations , Alma ’ s Almacam Weld software becomes a reference OLP solution in Yaskawa Europe ’ s catalogue and will be promoted by the manufacturer to its customers with Alma ’ s support .
“ Offline programming , which allows a robot to be graphically programmed from a virtual scene and its movements to be simulated , is more than an alternative to traditional programming by learning . It is an approach that is becoming more and more common among manufacturers and is all the more interesting when the products manufactured are varied , modular or subject to frequent adaptations , and when the batches to produce are small ,” Alma told ISMR .
“ In Europe , dozens of companies of all sizes use Almacam Weld OLP solution to program their Motoman welding robots from Yaskawa . The agreement formalises
L to R : Pascal Jeangirard ( CEO of Yaskawa France ), Laurence Ruffin ( President and CEO of Alma ) and Bruno Schnekenburger ( President and CEO of Yaskawa Europe ).
our longstanding cooperation in the field , with Alma and Yaskawa Europe teams or their local resellers ( Spain , Portugal , Netherlands ...) already working together to provide their customers with a highperformance robotic solution . The capabilities of the Almacam Weld software , particularly in terms of automation drastically reducing part programming times , were particularly appreciated ,” it added .
“ Thanks to Alma , we will be able to increase the added value of our solutions and provide a turnkey solution to our customers ,” confirmed Richard Tontsch , Manager Marketing , Yaskawa Europe . “ Yaskawa Europe will be able to rely on Alma ’ s presence in different European countries and on its local teams of experts for localisation of the service to the end customers ,” he added .
Yaskawa Europe and its resellers will receive tailor-made support , with technical and commercial teams trained on Alma ’ s software and accompanied in the deployment of OLP projects . The long-term objective for the manufacturer is to gain autonomy and directly ensure the implementation and support of the software for its customers .
Based in Eschborn near Frankfurt in Germany , Yaskawa Europe GmbH comprises the Drives Motion Controls ( automation , drive and control technology ), Robotics ( industrial robots , systems ) and Environmental Energy ( environmental engineering ) business units .
Founded by researchers at the University of Grenoble in 1979 , Alma is a CAD / CAM software publisher for cutting , sheet metal and robotics . Its software solutions and web applications are designed to optimise the potential of machines and robots . n
