Order placed for first FiveX Ultra

Just over a month ago , Water Jet Sweden ( WJS ) launched its new machine concept , FiveX Ultra , and the first order has already been signed . FiveX Ultra is a new type of advanced waterjet cutting machine , with new capabilities for five-axis waterjet cutting in full 3D .
“ FiveX Ultra was launched at EuroBLECH 2022 in the last week of October . The machine attracted great interest among industry professionals , press and customers . At the trade fair , business discussions were held with several stakeholders . One of these has now placed their first order ,” WJS told ISMR .
“ As part of the procurement , there has been thorough testing with the customer . It is an important step where we both develop the customer ’ s production process and quality assure the application ,” outlined Tony Ryd , technical manager and co-founder of Water Jet Sweden .
According to WJS , the tests went as planned and the customer ( a large international group in the aerospace sector ) has placed an order for its first FiveX Ultra .
“ This quick order confirms that we have an offer to meet market requirements ,” added Lennart Svensson , President and CEO of Water Jet Sweden .
“ For many companies , waterjet cutting technology can shorten lead times and reduce production costs by eliminating and simplifying various steps in the manufacturing process . There are already a number of stakeholders in both Europe and the U . S ., so there are good opportunities for more orders for FiveX Ultra in the near future ,” he concluded . n

Roll-forming specialist , DREISTERN GmbH & Co . KG , has launched a new RF4.0 intelligent straightening device , designed to eliminate errors in a profile ’ s longitudinal geometry . Part of its ‘ Roll Forming 4.0 portfolio ’, the device is built to :
■ Immediately identify changes in the roll-forming process .
■ Alert operators of the need for action .
■ Provide information about the cause of the problem and the most effective countermeasure .
■ Prevent material waste to increase efficiency and save resources .
“ Sensors , used in the axes of the straightening device , detect the acting horizontal and vertical loads . If the longitudinal geometry changes , these forces also change . Changing geometries can therefore be detected early . When that happens , the force applied by the straightening device can be readjusted to guarantee profile straightness ,” explained the German roll-forming specialist .
Sensor values are presented in a specially developed app . Apart from the integrated target range adjustment , the app supports the operator by evaluating the sensor signals so that they are transferred into three characteristic signals . These three measured values are connected to the three basic defect types : bow , camber and twist . The

information on the app gives the operator direct hints on the causes of the current defect and guides him / her through the process optimisation .
Straightening devices have been established in roll-forming systems for a long time . Their basic task is to compensate for any deviations in the longitudinal direction ( especially camber , bow and twist ).
“ The cause of these geometry defects are strains in the longitudinal profile direction being distributed irregularly across the crosssection , which ‘ relax ’ again after the forming process . To correct these defects , one or more straightening devices are used in rollforming systems , usually at the end of the roll-forming line . These stress the profile so that inverse longitudinal strains are applied , which can compensate for the deviations caused in the roll-forming process ,” said DREISTERN .
Founded in 1949 , DREISTERN GmbH & Co . KG is a specialist in roll-forming technology and complete process integration . More than 2,000 of its units are in use , producing more than 8,000 different profiles . It has applied for over 40 patents .
“ We work with companies in sectors such as automotive & transport ; storage & logistics ; electrical ; furniture and construction ,” it told ISMR . n
