Chairman Huang of TAITRA confirmed that “ Taiwan plays a crucial role in supporting the global machine tool supply chain , as Taiwan is renowned for its customisation and innovation .” Huang pointed out that the TIMTOS x TMTS mega show will showcase a wide array of R & D innovations from highprofile manufacturers in Taiwan .
TAMI ’ s Chairman Wei added that the supply chain has fundamentally changed since the global pandemic and “ created an opportunity for Taiwanese players to explore new business in the post-pandemic era ”. Meanwhile , TMBA ’ s Chairman Hsu encouraged continuous progress towards intelligent manufacturing , SaaS and interface unity .
Emerging industries , for example electric vehicles , have had a great impact on the global machine tool supply chain to date . Jimmy Chu , Chairman of Fair Friend Group , and Jui-Hsiung Yen , Chairman of TTGroup , shared their experiences and options for enterprise transformation in the wake of such opportunities and challenges , demonstrating the resilience of Taiwanese companies when dealing with supply chain issues .
Aside from Fair Friend Group and TTGroup , other exhibitors at the 2022 event will include HIWIN ; PMI ; Victor Taichung ; YLM ; SHINBU ; KFO ; CHMER ; FANUC ; MAZAK ; YOU JI ; TAKISAWA ; YCM ; TRUMPF ; Delta ; Mitsubishi and Siemens .
“ The machinery industry has become Taiwan ’ s third trillion-dollar industry , behind the semiconductor and panel industries . With increasing COVID-19 vaccination rates and growing demand , it is expected that Taiwan ’ s machine tool industry exports will hit a new record in the next few months ,” added the show organisers .
Taiwan , the world ’ s fifth-largest machine tool exporter , provides smart total solutions to the world with its solid foundation in IoT , AI and Big Data technologies . In the post-pandemic
era , Taiwan continues its journey towards Industry 4.0 . Taiwan ’ s machine tools have introduced not only intelligent technologies and flexible solutions but also green concepts to smart machinery . Sustainability is a key concern and Taiwan ’ s machinery industry is committing to the promotion of sustainable technology .
“ Industry 4.0 is a key industry trend . Taiwan is the third largest exhibitor country at the EuroBLECH sheet metal exhibition in Germany ( out of 50 countries ). More than 60 % of Taiwanese exhibitors at EuroBLECH are already doing smart manufacturing so our industry offers a lot of smart manufacturing benefits . 5G and smart manufacturing is the way to go for Taiwan ’ s industry ,” added Jimmy Chu , CEO of Fair Friend Group . n

An eye on smart machinery

In response to emerging global trends , Taiwan Excellence ( supported by Taiwan ’ s Bureau of Foreign Trade ) invited five Taiwan Excellence Awardwinning machine tool manufacturers to demonstrate their intelligent manufacturing solutions at a webinar held alongside the EMO Milano 2021 international trade fair for machine tools .
Companies participating in the webinar were Tongtai Machine & Tool ; Fair Friend Enterprise ( FFG ); Buffalo Machinery ( AXILE ); L & L Machinery and HIWIN Technologies . Entitled ‘ Beyond Smart ’, the webinar welcomed 48 media outlets and 171 buyers from around the world . A total of 47 Taiwanese manufacturers signed up to attend the physical EMO Milano 2021 exhibition ( including HIWIN , AXILE and FFG ).
During the webinar , Mr . Yung-Hsiang Lai , Director of Taiwan ’ s Smart Machinery Promotion Office , highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic has enhanced the importance of smart manufacturing and concepts such as intelligence and automation are now key trends .
