TIMTOS 2021
Taiwan , which is ranked as the world ’ s ninth-largest manufacturing nation , is a major producer in the machine tool industry with about 1,950 companies based on the island and over 43,000 people employed in the sector .
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has had a great impact on various industries globally , Taiwan ’ s machine tool industry is built on strong foundations . Combined with the smart manufacturing transformation and the interconnection of upstream and downstream resources , the industry occupies an important position in the global industrial supply chain .
Nearly 1,000 exhibitors participated in the TIMTOS 2021 Online event . Machine tool manufacturers present their latest products and various seminars , workshops and recorded tutorials actively promoted this new type of exhibition format .

The event was originally planned as ‘ TIMTOS 2021 Hybrid ’ in a pioneer format as a virtual and physical trade show . Around 7000 online visitors and 40,000 onsite visitors , and over 200 procurement meetings , were expected by the show organisers at the TIMTOS 2021 Hybrid combination . However , COVID-19 concerns led to the cancellation of the physical trade show , although the virtual show ( TIMTOS 2021 Online ) still went ahead .
In 2019 , TIMTOS hosted a record 1,230 exhibitors from 26 countries with 7,000 booths , positioning it among the top three machine tool trade shows in the world . The six-day exhibition attracted a total of 53,777 professional visitors , of whom 7,511 were from overseas .

At an international press conference for TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 on 2 December 2021 , the show organisers – James C . F . Huang , Chairman of TAITRA ( Taiwan External Trade Development Council ); Larry Wei , Chairman of TAMI ( Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry ) and Harbor Hsu , Chairman of TMBA ( Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders ’ Association )– sat next to two industry giants ( Jimmy Chu , Chairman of Fair Friend Group and Jui-Hsiung Yen , Chairman of TTGroup ).
