Bystronic at Blechexpo 2021
During the Blechexpo 2021 sheet metal trade fair in Stuttgart , Germany , Bystronic presented its technologies in laser cutting , bending , software and services . In addition to manual production , its clear focus was on automation .
In his technical presentation on “ The Smart Factory ”, Thorsten Stahl , Bystronic product manager for software services , showed the audience that anyone can make their first step towards an intelligent factory . He addressed everyday production challenges and demonstrated how they could be tackled with Bystronic ’ s BySoft suite of software .
“ We can digitalise your processes and handle your business procedures in the digital world , and you can carry out agile , smooth and transparent production ,” he told the audience in Stuttgart .

Bystronic was also the recipient of a Blechexpo Innovation Prize , awarded to outstanding exhibits at the international trade fair for sheet metal processing . Along with its partner AIRCO Systems GmbH , Bystronic was recognized as ‘ the most innovative enterprise of the year ’ for the AIRCO Infinit Mixgas project , in the separation and connection technology award category . of goods . This year , we acquired software specialist Kurago and , together , we have developed customised software that enables our customers to also integrate the machines and processes of our competitors into their production lines ( from stand-alone machines to the fully networked factory ). These are exactly the solutions that we want to offer our customers .
ISMR : Which issues are of prime importance for your customers right now and how are you addressing these issues for them ?
MK : Our customers are facing more competition , smaller batch sizes , higher deadline pressure and shorter delivery times . They are required to produce even faster now . These are significant challenges to overcome . To meet these challenges , our customers need to optimise their production and make it even more efficient . Customers come to us to help them increasingly automate and optimise their production .

ISMR : What , in your view , are important industry trends , challenges and opportunities ? How are you responding to these ?
MK : The trend is clearly towards automation . Many of our customers already own more than one machine from us . Initially , they may have ordered a laser cutting machine or a press brake . Later , a loading and unloading system would have been added . When production is automated , efficiency can be significantly increased .

If other elements are also integrated , we now start talking about a smart factory . We are currently rolling out our Smart Factory software to test customers and plan to launch it in the first quarter of 2022 , helping our customers to stay ahead of the competition .
ISMR : Which products , technologies or services have you released this year ?
MK : This year , our tube processing division introduced the ByTube Star 130 , a high-end tube laser cutting system with fully automatic set-up for open profiles and ellipses , ensuring greater flexibility and quality in production . Since 85 per cent of the market potential in the segment is in small tubes , the ByTube Star 130 is equipped to process tubes with diameters of 10 to 130mm and raw material lengths of up to 8.5 metres .
