Hornsey Steel Panels and Sections’ commitment to sustainability is a core part of its growth strategy. Its new site is equipped with energy-efficient lighting, and it has just completed the installation of a 274 panel 105.5kWp solar array across the full length of the factory roof. These measures ensure that the facility achieves an A-rated EPC( Energy Performance Certificate) while minimising its environmental footprint.
In addition, 70 % of the building’ s materials were manufactured in-house, showcasing the company’ s ability to integrate its expertise into the construction process. This innovative approach also reduced costs and bolstered sustainability during development.
With an expanded product range and increased productivity, Hornsey Steel is poised for continued success in the competitive steel industry. The company’ s combination of modern technology and dedication to its local roots help to ensure that its profile stays high in British manufacturing.
“ Hornsey Steel’ s journey from a small family business to a leader in its field serves as an inspiring example of how a steadfast commitment to quality and innovation can lead to success. As the company moves forward, it remains grounded in the values that have guided it for over half a century,” said CIDAN.
A vision for the future
The company’ s expansion has also unlocked job opportunities at the firm, bringing its workforce to 34, with 80 % of employees based locally within 15 miles of the site.
With the new facility and equipment, it has already increased operational efficiency by 25 % and its turnover is set to increase significantly this year.
The increased space is also helping the firm to manoeuvre raw materials and finished goods more easily, boosting day-to-day efficiency.
The expanded product range enables the company to offer a comprehensive suite of services, positioning it as a one-stop shop for secondary steelwork and roofing solutions.

Samuel Hornsey explained:“ Our new manufacturing site marks a transformative step for the business. This expansion enables us to meet growing customer demand, significantly broaden our product range and improve efficiency across the board. This investment is about much more than growth – it’ s about sustainability, innovation and supporting the workforce in our local community.”
“ We are a dynamic business with further expansion plans in place. Our continued growth will place us at the forefront of the manufacturing community and will allow us to offer a comprehensive solution. We aim to provide everything that our customers might need from a wide range of secondary structural steel right through to the last fixing,” highlighted Harry Disley.
“ The UK profiled metal market has always been competitive and dynamic, and this year is proving to be no less so. As a business, we must focus on quality and service to ensure that we remain prominent in the marketplace and that our recent investments support that aim,” he concluded. n
