EMEA leadership at Yaskawa
Zink to serve as new CLEPA President
CLEPA , the European Association of Automotive Suppliers , elected Matthias Zink as its new President for a twoyear term starting in January 2024 . Zink is CEO , Automotive Technologies , at Schaeffler .
“ CLEPA represents over 3,000 companies , from multinationals to SMEs , supplying state-of-the-art components and innovative technology for safe , smart and sustainable mobility across Europe . As the largest private investor in R & D , with 30 billion euros invested annually , the automotive supply sector is critical to enabling the green and digital transition in Europe . Keeping Europe competitive is a task for policymakers and industry alike ”, said Mr Zink . “ I wish to thank Thorsten Muschal for his four , successful years as CLEPA President , and I look forward to building on the work done and help to strengthen the voice of our industry .”
While vehicle production has gone up “ post-COVID ”, suppliers have managed to reduce CO₂ emissions by increasing the use of renewable energy . However , this positive trajectory can only be maintained with continued significant investments to meet the goals of the green transition whilst remaining globally competitive .
“ Affordable renewable energy , raw materials shortages , insufficient battery production capacity in the EU , along with large infrastructure and grid needs , demand a technology-diverse approach . Yaskawa Electric Corporation has announced the executive leadership change of the Yaskawa EMEA Region . Marcus Mead succeeded the retiring Bruno J . Schnekenburger and was appointed to Executive Officer Regional Manager Europe , Chairman and President YASKAWA Europe GmbH from 1 March 2024 .
“ Marcus Mead ( 53 ) is stepping into the regional executive head position at Yaskawa Europe GmbH . The British executive joined Yaskawa in 2018 as Vice President of Operations , following a career built across Aerospace Engineering with British Aerospace ( Commercial Aircraft ) Airbus Division , the automotive Industry with Magna International and industrial automation with Parker Hannifin . Since September 2018 , he has been leading our European Robotics Division in Allershausen , near Munich . Additionally , since March 2023 , Mead has held the position of President EMEA at our headquarters in Hattersheim , near Frankfurt ,” explained the company .

He will spearhead strategic initiatives in his new role to drive growth , enhance market presence and strengthen client relationships . Before joining Prince Manufacturing , Emberson held key leadership positions in the chemical , environmental and textile sectors .

Bruno J . Schnekenburger . driven Yaskawa ’ s European development , particularly in robotics . In 2019 , Yaskawa inaugurated its first European robot factory in Kočevje , Slovenia , which now supplies approximately 80 % of the European demand for Motoman robots . In 2023 , Yaskawa significantly increased its capacity for robotics system engineering and assembly via a 10,000-sqm expansion in Allershausen , Germany . Its goal was reportedly to achieve European leadership in this domain .
“ Bruno J . Schnekenburger has shaped Yaskawa ’ s successful direction in EMEA , and for that we are immensely grateful ,” commented Mead .
Since 2014 , Schnekenburger has held responsible positions at Yaskawa , initially as President of the European Robotics Division , then as Chief Operating Officer and , since 2018 , as President and Regional Head . Additionally , since 2020 , Schnekenburger has served as Senior Executive Officer of the Japanese parent company , Yaskawa Electric Corporation . n
