FOCUS ON COIL PROCESSING

PRECISION PROCESSES

BSH Hausgeräte ’ s new b + s slitting line , with fully automatic shear , cuts up to seven slit strips from one coil with minimum material thickness of 0.3mm .

“ The household appliance manufacturer has drastically reduced line set-up times and production costs .“

The Traunreuter plant , initially owned by Siemens AG and incorporated into BSH Hausgeräte GmbH in 1967 , has developed and produced cookers , ovens and hobs for the international market for more than 70 years . The world ’ s first built-in cooker was reportedly developed and produced in this factory .

The household appliance manufacturer produces almost all the sheet metal it needs itself ( e . g . for housing or ventilation parts , as well as heating elements ). However , because its previous coil slitting line in Traunreut was getting older , BSH invested in a new slitting line for C steels from the b + s group .
The line ‘ s specially developed , fully automatic longitudinal slitting shear can be easily and flexibly adjusted to new coil widths and cuts up to seven slit strips from one coil . In addition , the new line can process larger coils of up to 18t , so that set-up times can be reduced and production process efficiency is increased .
The lower minimum material thickness of just 0.3mm ( compared to the old slitting line ) is less than that of the sheet metal strip usually processed , so the household appliance manufacturer is already preparing itself to meet new market requirements and future trends .
Automation in focus
“ Our previous coil slitting line , which supplied the entire plant with sheet metal blanks , was already 30 years old and no longer met our high safety standards ,” reported Sascha Radloff , head of technical plant construction in BSH Hausgeräte ’ s pre-fabrication division at the Traunreut site . “ We therefore decided to order a new slitting line from the b + s group at the beginning of
2019 .”
