“ Stay stylish” isn’ t just a tagline; it’ s a lifestyle. Freddy Godinez and Alexander Stabler are the creative minds behind the interior design and landscape firm Fredric Alexander and their goal is to help Las Vegas stay stylish through timeless elegance with a modern approach.
The design duo attests that the key to any successful project is to start with what they call a“ clean edit.” They encourage clients to declutter so they can discover the beauty in their existing pieces and make room to amplify the space with artfully chosen pieces that have staying power and transcend the trends.
They’ re quick to point out that not every trend has this resilience. Alexander notes,“ Modern farmhouse is not aging well. It’ s too accessible and it’ s already feeling dated.” But if you like that vibe, there’ s hope if you are willing to mix it up a little. He explains,“ Modern farmhouse has its roots in contrasting colors, blacks and whites and it does have organic materials like woods so I would bring in more warm tones, more beiges and more wood tones to warm it up and make it feel welcoming and more timeless. Bring in variety. Eclectic creates layers and layers feel timeless. It feels more curated.”
Speaking of curation, the duo likes to put a distinctively Vegas touch on all of their projects. Freddy points out,“ We love to pull a vintage item that shows a connection to Las Vegas with every one of our projects, whether we’ re sourcing it from a remodel from a casino or estate sales. We like to find one-off pieces that we can incorporate with our modern designs.”
They explain the reasoning behind this is that mixing of the old with the new leads to the feeling of timelessness. They bring in a variety of items like marquee letters from casino signage, hotel art pieces, and furniture they can give a new life to. Dated‘ 90s cherry wood stain on a Bellagio conference table? No problem for these two and a sander. After they acquired this piece when they hotel was updating its villas, they took it down to its natural cedar and now it’ s the centerpiece of their downtown office and event space.
“ A GOOD DESIGN MARRIES FORM AND FUNCTION.”
– Alexander Stabler, Co-Founder and Principal Designer at Fredric Alexander
While style is always in mind, function cannot be ignored. Alexander explains,“ We both come from large families and we have pets so we always say we create spaces that are gorgeous but aren’ t delicate. You need to create spaces that look good, function beautifully, and last for a long time. That’ s what we pride ourselves on.” Freddy adds,“ We’ re good at finding pieces that can evolve as people’ s lives change.”
They’ re fans of using quality vintage pieces because the more lived in they are, the better they look. With the world of performance fabrics expanding to velvets and linens, you no longer have to sacrifice functionality for beauty.
Their advice to those looking to refresh their spaces is to invest in professional design services. Alexander speaks the truth when he says,“ In an era and time of DIY and fast fix-it TV shows, if you want quality, beautiful, functional designs, you need to invest in professional services.” They’ ll soon have their locally crafted candles and signature scent room spray available on fredricalexander. com.
