“ I call it luxury your way,”
“ Whatever luxury means to you, we can provide.”
Black Desert Resort is quietly becoming Utah’ s largest destination resort. Juxtaposed against the vermilion cliffs and cobalt blue skies, the ever-growing luxury resort is punctuated by a manicured PGA-quality golf course dramatically built on the edge of a lava field.
“ What really struck me about this area, aside from the obvious beauty of it, was that it has twice the amount of tourism as Park City but there wasn’ t really anything for tourists to do except hike,” explains Patrick Manning, Black Desert’ s managing partner.“ There wasn’ t really any luxury.”
So Manning set out to change that and began drafting plans for a sustainable resort that would offer both laidback luxury and endless adventure. The vision, Manning says,“ was to create a there, there,” complete with a championship golf course, quality restaurants, a boardwalk of shops – a mix of boutiques and high-end brands – and an outdoor music venue rivaling the best in the country.
“ I call it luxury your way,”
Manning says of the resort, which opened in 2024.
“ Whatever luxury means to you, we can provide.”
Located on the edge of Snow Canyon State Park in Ivins, Utah, a St. George suburb, Black Desert sits at a biodiverse crossroads where three ecosystems – the Mojave Desert, Colorado Plateau, and Great Basin Range – converge. Guests can enjoy guided hikes led by adventure experts, schedule trips to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and stargaze each evening.
One of the southwest’ s most ambitious luxury resorts has already set a new standard for the six million visitors passing through the region. In its infancy, Black Desert has secured a PGA event, built a premier pickleball complex, attracted top culinary talent, and created a wellness space with specially designed suites and daily fitness classes.
