Being a
Busy Bee at
Christmas
F
or many a trip to Busy Bee Garden Centre at Brading
Road Ryde, is an integral part of the build-up to
Christmas. And visitors who venture into Busy Bee’s new
home this year will surely be amazed by the stunning display
that owner Chris and Mary Leslie and their team have put
together for the festive season.
Greeted on the outside by a six-metre high illuminated
reindeer, once inside the Centre you will simply stop and
marvel at the magical Christmas sights and sounds that took six
weeks to put together.
In the foyer you are greeted by a delightful snow princess with
a Cinderella-type coach; and then as you venture further into
the store you will be mesmerised by a magnificent nine-metre
tall Christmas tree, with the spiral staircase wrapped around it,
leading down to the Christmas World - a true work of art.
There are more than 10,000 lights
illuminating the tree, which
provide a glittering and
spectacular show as you walk
down the staircase.
Inside Busy Bee’s
Christmas World you
will find a series of
themed rooms, where
an incredible array
of stock is on display.
One room features
wall decorations,
including LED tapestries
and pictures, and that is
followed by a room of party
and dressing-up clothing for all
ages. There is also a room featuring
a stunning collection of fibre optic trees
and flowers, and that is complemented by a
picturesque alpine model village, lit up, and
even with its own waterfall.
But perhaps the most striking section is the
light department with more than 150 variety
of lights, white and multi-coloured, for both
outdoors and indoors. They range from the 20-light

sets up to a massive 25-metre chain comprising
2,000 cluster lights - big enough to light up
virtually any Island home.
The new-look Busy Bee exhibition has retained
some of its favourites, including the Polar
Bear scene, which over the years has
raised many thousands of pounds
for Naomi House children’s
hospice. There’s also the
Talking Tree that tells stories
to youngsters, and an
animated Santa in a sleigh.
Add to that the
thousands of tree
decorations which are
available, and you will
soon discover why visiting
Busy Bee is an experience
not to be missed for all
ages in the build-up to this
Christmas. Tel: 01983 811096
