FOOD Dine & Stay Seaview Hotel Hea d Chef, Ala n Sta ley Resident special gives real value for money By James Rolfe What better way to experience life as a tourist than to have a night’s stay in one of the leading hotels on the island? Clad with ivy the Seaview Hotel looks picturesque upon entry. The rooms are large with a contemporary look equipped with everything needed for a night’s stay. Large mirrors lighten the room and stowed in the adequate storage space gracious tea and coffee facilities , iron and board , fans and all toiletries with two robes for comfort. After unloading take a stroll to the sea no more than 40 metres away and gasp at the beautiful views of the fort and the Solent exceptionally beautiful with the evening sun and relax until evening meal. The dining room is warm, light and comfortable with very attentive staff who tend to all your needs. The three-course menu caters to all palates; my personal recommendation for the starters is the infamous Creamy Crab Ramekin with the flavoursome Foccacia bread, subtle with Rosemary notes. My choice of mains was the locally caught Sea Bass with a crisp skin , crushed potatoes, broad beans and salty samphire, a tower surrounded with a rich complex sauce. The choice of sweets will cause the most dedicated decision maker to falter. I decided on the sharp raspberry sorbet with the sweet nutty sesame crisp, a delicate palate cleanser to round off the meal. After a relaxing peaceful sleep your reward is a spectacular buffet loaded with pastries and fruit. This precedes a delicious full English breakfast amongst other choices, worth a visit on its own. This resident special is available Seaview Hotel, High Street, Seaview, between October and March, Sunday to Isle of Wight.
