Gilten market at Brickfields
This year's Gilten Market will
take place at Brickfields on
Monday December 3.
The pre-Christmas date
encourages farmers to produce
top quality beef for the Isle of
Wight butchers to buy for the
festive season.
The event is celebrated by
gilding the horns of the winning
steer, called the Gilten Beast,
with gold. This will be carried
out by the Island’s High Sheriff
Nick Hayward.
The annual dinner takes place
at the New Holmwood Hotel in
Cowes on January 19.

Chance to run and
raise Hospice cash
The Earl Mountbatten Hospice has a limited number
of guaranteed places in the Bupa Great South Run
2012, which takes place on Sunday, October 28.
The very popular event is run over a 10-mile
course through Portsmouth and Southsea. But due
to demand for places and the prestigious nature of
this event, the Hospice is asking each participant to
raise a minimum of £150 in Sponsorship. The race
starts at10.0am and usually attracts runners of all
standards, and a host of personalities, but all with the
same aim – to raise funds for much-needed causes.
