FOOD Dan Maskell (right) with his brother Steve who has recently joined the restaurant staff Dan has recipe for success Dan’s Kitchen has been open at St Helens for little more than two months, but it has quickly built a reputation for fine food in a relaxed atmosphere. Owner Dan Maskell gained experience as a chef both on the Island and on the mainland before deciding to take the big step to open his own restaurant. His wife Carla is front of house five days a week. He admits: “I worked in the New Forest and at Petersfield in Michelin Star restaurants and learned a lot about different meats, in preparation and cuts. “When we decided to open our own restaurant it was a bit of a calculated risk, but we are delighted at the way things have gone so far. We have been busy from day one, which is very pleasing.” Dan us W2
