and open up right across the Island for a
longer period, giving more flexibility to
the artists as well as to visitors”.
Many visitors enjoy following their own
self-selected ‘art trail’, going from one
artist’s studio or venue to another, and
this will be easier to organise with the
Island-wide opening. There’s also the eyecatching feature of bright red bunting
which will festoon all the open studio
venues.
The best way to plan a trail, says Rob, is
to pick up one of the free yearbooks and
browse the artists taking part, along with
their map locations and opening days,
before deciding on a route to follow.
The yearbooks, which are beautifully
designed by Pepper Creative, can be
picked up free of charge at Red Funnel
and tourist information points, libraries,
English Heritage and National Trust
properties, as well as galleries, framers
and shops across the Island.
As well as individual exhibiting artists,
some have opted to show their work in
group settings at venues in the Ryde,
Cowes, Ventnor, Sandown and Freshwater
areas - some of which are new.
Says Rob: “There are also many small
groups and individual artists across
the Island and we hope visitors will not
overlook these, as they are well worth
visiting”.
For those wanting a quick taste of
what’s on offer, Quay Arts in Newport are
hosting a Showcase for the event, from
9th July to the 25th July.
Visitors at every venue can be sure of a
warm welcome, say the artists, and who
knows – you may get to discover some
beautiful parts of the Island you’ve never
experienced.
