MOTORING New home for PEUGEOT Two years of planning frustration have come to an end for Staddlestones, the family business that operates the Nissan and Peugeot cars franchises on the Island. Chairman of Staddlestones, David Perkis, said as their client had obtained planning permission for their Bembridge site, they can now implement their exciting plans to build a new Peugeot showroom alongside their existing Nissan dealership, bringing two of the world’s major brands on to one site at Ryde. David said: “Throughout the retail motor industry the only way to be successful is to multi-franchise, and moving Peugeot to Ryde will enable us to provide both Peugeot and Nissan customers with the very best facilities in a most convenient location and will secure the future for our business and our staff for many years to come.” The scheme will include a 250m2 vehicle Showroom with ancillary office, reception and customer facilities, and new fast-service workshop bays that will enable Staddlestones to carry out a service in less than half the time it currently takes. The existing workshops and preparation bays will be upgraded and extended to accommodate the increased work load and the Nissan showroom will be improved and refurbished. Chris Perkis, MD of Staddlestones said: “This move is great news for our customers and staff, and will enable us to provide the highest levels of customer service such as extended 5 4 www.visitislandlife.com opening hours, better support for our business and fleet customers, and even valet parking! “The new facilities will be modern, clean and fresh, and the fact that that we will be able to supply over 30 different model ranges from one site will give customers unparalleled choice on the Island. Our existing customers in Bembridge need not worry, as we will continue to offer a collection and delivery service for their vehicles.” And it doesn’t stop there. The new building will have room to host a third brand, which at the moment remains a closely guarded secret, but which Chris says will give Island motorists even more choice from one location. It will be a niche brand with interesting products offering great value for money. The move will happen in two stages. Staddlestones vacated their Bembridge site at the end of May, and initially will all be housed within the existing Nissan building while construction takes place on the new facility. When built, Peugeot and the third brand will move into the new premises. David Perkis summed it up by saying: “In what are still difficult economic times, this really is a good news story, and these are exciting times for our business. We now have a lot of preparation work to complete to be ready for our move. This represents a significant investment for our business, and demonstrates our confidence in our staff, the brands that we represent and our Island.”
