FOOD - DRINK - ACCOMMODATION
A real food show
at Seaview.
In this issue we have
found a real gem for those
who love to cook. Head
chef Mike Green from the
Seaview Hotel has worked
hard to create a spectacular
two-hour show in which
he reveals some of his
professional skills in order
to make your life in the
kitchen easier and more
rewarding.
On arrival, guests are
ushered to his “stage” - a
purpose-built kitchen area
located next to the hotel. Once seated, you’re served an
endless supply of champagne. However let’s not get carried
away, because the real reason for attending has to be the
cooking. The idea of the evening is education and fun, and to
be fair, although the champagne was in full flow throughout
the whole demonstration, the audience was entranced by the
show. Along with his assistant, Mike went on to demonstrate
how to prepare and cook lobster & pork together with a
delicious starter and dessert.
The demonstration itself was carried out at a pace that
everyone could follow, and it was clear that Mike loved being
centre stage, because his enthusiasm shone through. A few
minutes into the demonstration, and questions from the
audience already started coming in thick and fast.
To my surprise, even the “Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook” brigade
found the evening interesting, perhaps to the degree where
they might even go home and attempt some of the dishes
themselves. For the well-seasoned cooks in the audience,
there was an added bonus, they walked away with some great
tips and tricks, so everyone was happy.
After the two-hour demonstration the evening gets even
better, because you are then ushered to the dining area
located in the main hotel where you sit down to a wonderful
three-course meal … of the very dishes you have just seen
demonstrated. So, not only do you watch the food being
prepared and cooked, you can then actually taste it, and I
must admit it tasted as good as it looked.
Now here is the bit you will find hard to believe: the whole
evening including your endless supply of champagne, the twohour demonstration, and the three- course meal came to the
total sum of £35.00 per head. That’s what I call real value for
money.
The stage opens again in October, so if you would like to
enhance your culinary skills – or just enjoy a delicious meal
