Bangers a smash for butcher Paul
If sausages are your particular passion,
then there is no better place to visit than
Paul Murphy butchers shop, at 17 Regent
Street, Shanklin.
Paul, who opened
his premises in
September, shares
a passion for
‘bangers’, but
creating them
rather than
eating them. He
can boast around
90 – yes NINETY
– different flavours,
of which about 10
are on sale each day.
He said: “I make all my
own sausages from scratch. I make them
on the block in the front of the shop so
customers can see how they are made
and exactly what goes into them.
The options are endless.”
Paul’s recent new flavours
included lamb and haggis
and beef steak and
kidney, which proved
hugely popular.
There have also been
his award-winning
rabbit, smoked bacon
and thyme, as well as
venison and red onion,
sweet chilli, lamb and
mint, beef and Marmite and
a host of others.

Hot Mexican sausages, and
Mediterranean ones with pineapple, have
also been introduced recently. Paul is
always looking for new flavours, but has
not forgotten his customers who prefer
the traditional plain pork sausages – with
nothing added - which are always available.
Paul’s vast range of meats at his
traditional butcher’s shop include Isle
of Wight pheasant, duck and partridge,
as well as venison beef, pork, lamb and
chicken – not forgetting the occasional
haggis!
You only have to step inside to realise
you are in a proper butcher’s shop –
where high quality meats and a bit of
banter go hand in hand.
