Orchard Cosmetic is 10 years old - or young! Island Life caught up with Dr Maire Rhatigan in January and she told us that this year is the 10th anniversary of the clinic which she established in 2004. "We have carried out over 10,000 treatments since the clinic began, helping people with a range of cosmetic issues." Maire told us. The clinic itself is an oasis of tranquility in the centre of Newport's hustle and bustle. The reception area leads on to a lovely terrace where a cappucino can be enjoyed. We asked Maire what changes have taken place in the world of cosmetic treatments in the past 10 years. "Generally, there is now an emphasis on making sure that the results we get with facial ageing treatments such as fillers are subtle and natural. In my practice I have found the softfill canula method fantastic for getting a natural improvement around the mouth area." She is also a strong advocate of cosmetic treatments where injections are involved being carried out in a medical clinic dedicated to this purpose. "I don't see how it can be done safely any other way" concluded Maire.
