Burns Night
is piped in
A full complement of 42 guests enjoyed a traditional
Burns Night celebration at the Rex Restaurant,
Ventnor, organised for the seventh successive year by
Master of Ceremonies Anthony Churchill.
The event has proved so popular in recent years
there is always a waiting list, and this year included
piper Neil McDonald from Freshwater, the Selkirk
Grace, written by Robbie Burns and read by Elizabeth
Summers, and the Stabbing of the Haggis by Norman
Jackson before chef Stuart Downes produced the
Scottish Tower main course.
The speech to the Immortal Memory of Robbie Burns
was given by Jami MacAulay, and the Toast to the
Lassies was proposed by Stewart Blackmore with the
response by Sally Verey.
