Days out ‘On The Buses’ for a real pint of ale There was no worry about combining drinking and driving when the Island’s Classic Buses, Beer and Walks Weekend took to the roads again in October. With 87 buses running 14 routes, it was a great opportunity for hundreds of enthusiasts to leave their cars behind, ride vintage buses free of charge and visit pubs across the Island. Held for the fourth year running, the event was run by the Isle of Wight branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) together with the Isle of Wight Bus Museum. There was also a series of organised walks, including historic beer walks around a number of towns. Asked if they’ll be doing it again next year, the organisers said: “You bet!” Pictures by Graham Reading www.visitilife.com 61
