OUT & ABOUT
The Isle of Wight
Legal Service
Held once a year on the
3rd Monday of October
judges and various
representatives of the
agencies involved in the
administration of justice
meet at the Crown Court.
The procession is attended
by the High Sheriff, who
has a personal duty to
protect the judiciary.
Years ago this was an
active role in remote
parts of the country as
judges sometimes needed
protection.
The Legal Procession
After the service was held
at St Thomas's there was
a reception in the church,
and everyone processed
back to the court.
The High Sheriff Alan
Titchmarsh hosted a
lunch at the Royal Yacht
Squadron for the judiciary
and members of her
Majesty's Courts Service.
And a small fact is that
it has never rained on the
procession.
The Right Reverend Dr
Kenneth Stevenson
HH Judge Dixon
Major General Martin White
Lord Lieutenant
Far Left Mr Justice Royce, Middle Mr Justice Owen, and right Mr Justice
Coleridge - The Presiding Judges of the Western Circuit
Lord Lieutenant Cadet
