and Drink Awards
We have already had a great
response from our readers
and nomination forms are
coming in thick and fast.
The Island Food and Drink
Awards are designed to
reward those in the food and
drink industry for all the hard
work and dedication they put
into producing and serving
Island produce.

How can you nominate?
The success of these awards depends
on as many people possible making
nominations. It is very important to
our farmers, producers, chefs and
restaurants that you support and
vote for them.
1. We have distributed nomination
forms across the Island, placing
them in pubs, restaurants and farm
shops. (If you are an establishment
that would like a supply of
nomination forms please call 01983
861422)
2. You can also vote on-line at www.
isleofwight.net Simply complete
your nominations and click send.
3. We will be printing the
nomination form once again in the
February/March issue of Island Life.

What are the criteria?
The awards will be presented to the
best in each of the 13 categories.
You can nominate your favourite
restaurant, farmer, chef and local
farm shop on the basis that you
consider them to be the best the
Island has to offer . The whole idea
of these awards is to promote local

food & drink. So, ask the chef where
the produce comes from, ask about
the farm, ask to see invoices to
ensure they are buying local food.
Chef Mark Young form the St
Helens Restaurant commented:
“We welcome customers who ask
about the origin of our produce. I
actually take time to educate all
my waiting staff as to where our
produce originates from, I would
also be more than willing to show a
customer invoices for my produce.”
So don’t be afraid to ask questions!
