Festival of Light Robin Hill’s electric woods’ presents the Festival of Light, a stunning spectacle of creatively themed light, colour, sound, and entertainment inspired by the Hindu Festival of Diwali where ‘light triumphs over darkness’. It takes place between October 1st and November 5th this year. As darkness falls, visitors can experience the lush colours, flavours and magic of the Asian subcontinent set in Robin Hill’s glorious autumnal ancient woodland as the spectacular ‘electric woods’ captures the spirit of the most popular festival in the Indian calendar. Gala dinner & charity auction Michael Grade will be returning as guest speaker to the St Catherine’s and Ventnor Rotary Gala Dinner and Charity Auction, being held with the kind support of Lord Brabazon of Tara, at The Royal Yacht Squadron on Saturday October 29. Lord Grade enchanted guests at the 2015 Gala Dinner with stories from the world of show business. Guests enjoyed Lord Grade’s speech so much that organisers were delighted that such a celebrated raconteur could join them again. Along with a sumptuous three course meal, an auction in aid of the two charities conducted by former Chairman of Bonhams, Nicholas Bonham will also be held to raise funds for causes supporting children with speech, language, communication, social and recreational needs.   The evening will begin at 6.30pm and tickets for the event will cost £80 for an aperitif, a three course meal and wine. For more information about the event and tickets please phone 01983 852722. Decadeance It’s back! All profits will again go to the Hospice. As it’s an Olympic year in Rio, organiser Tony Martin has this year added an additional carnival theme to add to the already decadent party that people just love to dress up for! Tickets are available now and whether you’ve been decadent before or it’s your first time, you’d better get them quick as every year this popular night sells out - last year sold out two months in advance!
