Cowes Chiropractic Clinic:
Onward and Upward!
I
t was a busy and exciting start to 2016
at Cowes Chiropractic Clinic, with lots
to celebrate. In January the clinic was
awarded the prestigious Royal College
of Chiropractors Patient Practice Quality
Mark for a second term, valid until the end
of 2018. The award recognises the high
standard of care and patient satisfaction
that Cowes Chiropractic Clinic offers.
Also in January the clinic was joined
by Maria Nicholson, a recently qualified
McTimoney Chiropractic College
graduate with a previous career in caring
for the elderly. Maria brings hugely
valuable experience to the team. In line
with the clinic’s tradition of mentoring,
she will be working closely with Clinic
Director Rebecca Taylor during her first
year in practice.
The team has also been strengthened by
the addition of Dr Ian Nothling. Ian has
over 18 years experience as a diversified
chiropractor, having trained at Life College
in the USA. He works in a holistic manner,
using Sacro Occipital Technique, Activator
and prescriptive exercises.
Esme Connelly and Philippa Wilmot
continue to further their paediatric
training to help the Island’s babies and
children thrive and survive.
A growing number of babies are
receiving chiropractic care at Cowes
Chiropractic Clinic with Esme and
Philippa. Chiropractic treatment can also
be given during the mother’s pregnancy,
after the first 12 weeks; helping with
the changes the body will undergo in
preparation to give birth.
Recent courses include Toddlers to
Teens and Spinning Babies, and there are
more to come. The clinic will be taking
part in the Bump and Beyond event at the
Riverside Centre on 9th July for parents
who would like to come and find out more
about chiropractic care for their little ones.
If you have any questions about
whether or not chiropractic care is
suitable for you, the clinic offers a free
15-minute ‘spine check’ assessment to
discuss your needs. Just call 01983
282810 to arrange an appointment.
Revolutionary hearing equipment
S
pecsavers Audiologists
on the Isle of Wight have
invested in a revolutionary
piece of equipment to help
improve the hearing of local
residents.
The stores have taken delivery
of a video otoscope (VO) which
uses a tiny fibre-optic camera to
see the condition of a person’s ear
and provides them with a detailed
colour photograph.
Close examination of the ear
canal and eardrum can often
indicate ways to improve hearing
clarity and by using this latest
advance in hearing technology the
process is easy and comfortable.
The Video Otoscope can check:
• Eardrum condition and
infections
• Ear canal problems and
infections
• Middle ear fluid
• The level & build-up of wax in
your ear
Sam Woodford, hearing director
at Specsavers Isle of Wight, says:
“This investment shows our
commitment to providing our
customers with the very best care.
The video otoscope service is not
routinely carried out elsewhere
on the high street but it will be
available to all having a hearing
test.”
