THE HOSPICE
Latest news and information from
Earl Mountbatten Hospice...
Something old,
something new...
Getting married? Firstly, congratulations! And secondly, did you know
that Earl Mountbatten’s charity shop in Lugley Street, Newport, now has
a special area for vintage wedding dresses?
There’s a gorgeous selection and you could get a fabulous frock at a
bargain basement price. Pre-loved dresses are fashionable and ecofriendly and the money you spend will help Islanders in need.
You can also pick up glamorous accessories, including jewellery and
clutch bags, and don’t forget about your ‘going away’ outfit. Enjoy your
big day, and we’d love to see any pictures! Please get in touch via our
Facebook page at www.facebook.com/earl.mm

Coming up...
Run the Wight
Here’s something new for 2014 - it’s
Run the Wight, which will take place
on Sunday, May 11, the same day as
Walk the Wight. Just register via www.
walkthewight.com and then jog across
the Island, covering up to 26.5 miles
of beautiful scenery, to raise money
for Islanders with life-shortening
conditions. This is a great challenge, for
a special cause, so grab your trainers
and go, go, go! Earl Mountbatten
Hospice is also keen to hear from
anyone who could volunteer on the
big day. If you can spare a few hours,
please call 01983 528989.
Celebrate Easter at the EMH John Cheverton
Centre, the drop-in centre attached to the Hospice
in Halberry Lane, Newport. The Easter Fair is on
Saturday, April 19 from 10am to 3pm with stalls,
entertainment, a raffle and an Easter egg hunt for
the kids.
The Hospice shop will be open and you can also
pop into the café to sample their famous cakes.
Also coming up on Sunday, May 25 is End 2 End
charity cycle ride from Culver Down to the Needles,
and back again, if you’re fit enough! Please come
along and cycle or cheer! Visit www.iwhospice.org.
Last chance!
Make sure you’ve booked your
place on the 24th Walk the Wight
- as registrations close on Friday,
May 2. Please sign up via www.
walkthewight.com. Last year
10,500 people took part in the
Island’s biggest fundraising event,
which has spiralled in popularity
since 1991, when 35 employees
from Moreys crossed the Island to
raise money for an MRI scanner.
Have fun on Sunday, May 11, and
thank you all for supporting the
Island’s only Hospice.
