Carpets Direct
move to bigger &
better premises
with even
more choice
A move just 100 yards up the
road looks set to make a world
of difference to owner Martin
Dyer’s business.
The new, larger premises at 141
High Street, Ryde, means Carpets
Direct is now able to stock more
lines and expand into other areas
such as curtains and blinds.
Martin says: “We’re just a short
distance away from our old shop but
already we are noticing a difference.
“Our new shop is light and airy
which makes it feel more welcoming
110
and a more pleasant environment in
which to browse.
“One lady came in and said she had
often passed our old shop but had
never come in as it seemed too small
and dark.
“But now she feels very comfortable
coming and just looking around.
“And having moved away from the
precinct area, we are now getting
trade from passing cars.”
The shop is set over several floors
and includes a new rug showroom,
a vinyl, laminate and wood flooring
department and a special area for
bargain room-sized rolls.
Curtains and blinds are a new
business venture for Martin who
has been in the carpet business for
around 25 years.
Dean Brookes has years of
experience in this area and has
moved from the mainland to manage
this new side to the business.
Martin adds: “Dean wanted to move
here as he loves the island way of
life so much.
“And with his knowledge he’s been
able to source some very good
suppliers at very competitive prices.
“We may have moved to a much
larger shop, but we still aim to give
our customers the same great prices
and the same level of personal
service they’d expect from a small
shop.”
