A
n Island village pub’s signature
dish has become such a
phenomenon with customers
that it is now being made available to
enjoy at home with family and friends.
Nino Besozzi’s “Life Changing
Lasagne” has gone on sale at the
Newport Farmers Market, so that even
more people can sample the delights of
this classic Italian dish.
Made with Island-reared beef, the
delicious lasagne has been a permanent
feature on the specials board at Nino’s
family-run pub, the Bonchurch Inn, for
over three decades, and is still constantly
requested by regular customers as well
as visitors from all over the world.
The family say the “life changing” dish
is a culinary symbol of Nino’s early life
in Lavano Monbello, Northern Italy, and
his long career of over 70 years in the
catering and hospitality business.
His son Adrian explains: “Our lasagne
is named after Nino’s life-changing
decision to move to England in 1954.
“The reason we are so passionate
about the dish is not just for its quality as
a product, but also because it symbolises
the story of our family’s journey and
what we have achieved together”.
Prepared and packed for customers to
re-heat at home, the lasagne is available
from the Bonchurch Inn or every Friday
at the market in St Thomas Square from
8.00am – 2.00pm.
