Away We Go

Students learned to identify Caribbean fish , make and use quadrats to look at substrate composition , and become familiar with belt transects to conduct surveys . We compared marine protected areas to fished reefs , and explored remote reefs at the Desecheo Island marine reserve . Aside from science , this group of 12 students were immersed in Puerto Rican culture and visited historical sites in San Juan and Guajataca .
