Away We Go

Students learned to identify Caribbean fish, make and use quadrats to look at substrate composition, and become familiar with belt transects to conduct surveys. We compared marine protected areas to fished reefs, and explored remote reefs at the Desecheo Island marine reserve. Aside from science, this group of 12 students were immersed in Puerto Rican culture and visited historical sites in San Juan and Guajataca.
