We again participated in the Come Pez Leon lionfish festival hosted in

Guayanilla. This event was held in July, and is now an annual festival to promote awareness of this invasive species. Isla Mar contributed by harvesting lionfish with fellow volunteer divers at piers

and pilings near the Guayanilla boat ramp. We then prepared lionfish ceviche to feed over 200 people and manned a booth to offer this tasty bite for free to all event participants. We were excited to be involved in such an integral way- we

discovered that the majority of people who tried the ceviche had never tasted lionfish prior. This event was sponsored and organized by Sea Grant Puerto Rico, Eco Electrica and HJR Reefscaping. We will be participating again in 2017.
