We again participated in the Come Pez Leon lionfish festival hosted in

Guayanilla . This event was held in July , and is now an annual festival to promote awareness of this invasive species . Isla Mar contributed by harvesting lionfish with fellow volunteer divers at piers

and pilings near the Guayanilla boat ramp . We then prepared lionfish ceviche to feed over 200 people and manned a booth to offer this tasty bite for free to all event participants . We were excited to be involved in such an integral way - we

discovered that the majority of people who tried the ceviche had never tasted lionfish prior . This event was sponsored and organized by Sea Grant Puerto Rico , Eco Electrica and HJR Reefscaping . We will be participating again in 2017 .
