equipment such as hot towel warmers and steamers are in working order and fully charged prior to your shift .
Ensure the room is clean and disinfected prior to your client ’ s arrival and between each client .
Clean and restock your treatment room at the end of your shift .
Prepare for the Treatment .
Once the consultation is complete and you feel you have gathered all the necessary information , it is time to begin treatment .
Give the client detailed instructions on how to disrobe and position themselves on the treatment table . A lot of client anxiety stems from the vulnerability of undressing and not having clear instructions on what to do next . Offer a robe or spa wrap when appropriate for discretion and client comfort . Communicating clearly and directly will avoid improper undressing and positioning . For example , if you do not give clear instructions , you may re-enter the treatment room to find your client face down on top of all the linens for a facial . This will cut into treatment time as the client has to properly disrobe and prepare for the treatment a second time .
Always knock before re-entering the treatment room and wait for a response that the client is ready . Once you enter the room , ask the client if everything is comfortable and if anything needs to be adjusted , such as lighting , temperature , or table adjustments .
Deliver the Experience .
Choose a touchpoint . Each time you take your hands off the client , be sure to create a touchpoint somewhere close to the face to let them know you will be touching their face next . Throughout the facial , make it a habit of keeping at least one hand on the touchpoint whenever possible . Breaking contact breaks the flow . Two common touchpoints are the headwrap and the shoulder . When you do need to take both hands off the client , do not touch their face again without warning .
