But even a report talker will have something to say if you ask , “ Didn ’ t you just get back from Capetown ?” And even a rapport talker will appreciate you sharing facts about a skincare concern they ’ ve expressed (“ I know that you mentioned being worried about X . Do you know that ...?”)
So , once you ’ ve tested the waters and know who you ’ re dealing with , accentuate the personal whenever you interact with people . These conversations will become the basis for future interactions and deepen people ’ s sense that you care about them personally . like a birthday discount . Still , what I really want on my birthday is to hear from people who genuinely care about me , and I don ’ t think I ’ m alone in that .
With that being said , don ’ t underestimate the power of a heartfelt , individual greeting (“ You were glowing the last time I saw you , so for your birthday , I ’ d like to offer you a ...”). Celebrate , Don ’ t Automate ! As a small practitioner , I sometimes find myself envying companies that can follow me around the internet (“ That sweater is still in your shopping cart ”) or automate things

Don ’ t underestimate the power of a heartfelt , individual greeting .

The more you know about your clients , patients , colleagues , and business partners , the more you can build those relationships . Those interactions can never be automated because they ’ re so individual and unique .

3 Listen with Your Full Attention Because our lives can seem so overwhelming , many of us have learned the art of “ sort of ” listening to others . This means that we tune in with

“ half an ear ,” nod our heads , make occasional sounds of agreement , and immediately forget whatever it is that we sort of heard .
