Before finalizing a treatment plan , it is essential to determine how aggressive the patient would like the treatment regimen to be , how much time the patient can spare , and how many visits the patient can commit to . Easing the patient into treatments might be necessary for a total commitment . Also , don ’ t forget to remind them about the importance of a home skincare regimen to supplement any work done at the office .

While individual treatments are effective on their own , no one laser or injection can address every problem that a patient has .

Putting The Full-Face Plan Into Practice
In the world of skin concerns and treatments , the possibilities are endless . As more technologies emerge , the treatment options can seem overwhelming , not only to the patient but also to their treating clinician . Some of our treatments will address only one condition , while others can treat more than one issue at a time .
While the patient is telling me their concerns and I am examining their skin , I start making a mental note of what services are needed to provide the best results for each individual condition , followed by which treatments can address more than one of their concerns simultaneously . From there , I formulate the best combination therapy that will help the patient achieve their goals .
Uneven Skin Tone
We often think of brown spots when a patient tells us they desire a more even skin tone ; however , uneven skin is anything that veers from their natural tone . This can be reds as well as varying shades of brown . The patient ’ s redness may be a result of broken capillaries , diffuse redness , or rosacea . The browns can be lentigines ( aka sunspots ) or hyperpigmentation due to sun damage or scarring . It can also be melasma .
The first line of treatment for reds is laser and topical skincare products . Lasers , such as IPL ( intense pulsed light ), pulse-dye lasers , and 532-nanometer lasers can all address reds , while IPL and Picosecond Pulse Duration lasers are great for pigment issues such as sunspots and hyperpigmentation .
