SLEDGEHAMMER
SHOWDOWN
SS05 is a two lap, two up motorkhana course in
the Sand Dunes. Being early on in the event and
wanting to make sure the cars lasted, both Dave
Cameron and Barry Smethurst had gone into it
thinking they‘d take it easy on the cars.
Another great race was between West Australian,
Ashley Delich and Victorian Nick Hodge who also
exchanged paint over the course of the two laps.
It was Ashley Delich with a time of 11:09:94 who
narrowly beat Nick Hodge with a time of 12:14:93.
This was, however, until the Timekeeper said „Go“.
From there it was game-on. A tight race where paint
was exchanged on tight turns and although Dave
Cameron lead for a lap and a half, it was Barry &
Jim who took out the stage with a time of 11:26:12
over Dave & Simon with a time of 11:29:41.
Unfortunately for Ben Toomy, his event finished
during this stage as he suffered engine dramas that
could not be fixed in time to complete the event.
He did go back to Perth to collect his family though
and returned in time for Presentation night.
