TRIPLE M TRANSPORT
CHIPS PIT
FOR THE FIRST TIME
EVER...IRONMAN
GOES LIVE AROUND
THE WORLD...
In a bold move by Ruff Road Media,
SS03: Chips Pit was to be broadcast live
to the world... what could possibly go
wrong? Well, somehow teams managed
to get lost on the previous stage causing
Vince & Ewan Mack in the Gyrocopter to
direct them to Chips Pit. This caused a
delay of just over 2 hours.
Once the stage was underway, the live
feed was up and running including live
comments from Facebook from those
watching in Australia and even
Thailand.
Rubbing’s Racing...
Chips Pit was a pretty good stage being two-up gave it that little bit more
incentive to push hard in order to keep in
front of your opponent
Holding the lead to the winch wall and
having tight access saw Ashley Delich (car
#08) blocking Nick Hodge’s (car #14) access
to his side of the winch wall
With Nick’s horn failing to work he decided
to give Delich and Bartlett a few love taps to
get them to move.
Nick Hodge, being a panel beater/painter by
trade, has him keeping his car dent free.
It’s possible from that point forward he was
scared Delich was going repay him with
panel damage to his truck.
Chips Pit is a track through a sand pit
just west of Esperance town. Racing
a closed course, two cars compete at
the same time, completing two separate
laps. Barry Smethurst (car #01) did the
most amazing wheel stand into the
finish box.
