NISSAN PATROL
4.8L PETROL
Ashley Delich and David Bartlett
have been racing together for 4
years now and were the
worthy recipients of the
Comaradarie Award at this
year’s Ironman 4x4
Adventure
Challenge.
HIGHLIGHT
“Its hard to single out the ‘best part’, the whole event was awesome and had plenty of mint
stages. To top it off we had a great crew of people (competitors, marshals etc..) around/
with us which made it that bit more enjoyable. We had a blast as usual and cant wait to
next year.”
NISSAN PATROL
6L LS2
Barry and Jim have been racing together in the
same vehicle for over 10 years. Starting out as a
TD42 diesel, failures at Cliffhanger in consecutive
years led them to fit the current LS2 and GU auto
powertrain that has proven to be competitive and
reliable. Competing in 7 Cliffhanger events, the
last Engel series and a plethora of nav runs and
short course events before winning the
2013 WA Ironman Adventure
Challenge.

AN
ROAD RUNNER
The battle between Barry Smethurst and Dave Cameron over
the 7 day event was a sight to see. Prologue saw the two
paired up on all side-by-side stages and they certainly didn’t
disappoint. Battle scars can be seen on both cars, although
Barry made sure Dave’s car came off second best...

Stubboness to not take any 100 point penalties
proved a good move by Delich as they finished 3rd
overall in a field of 15. A suspect transfer case meant
he had to do approximately 80% of the event in 2wd.
