Animals plays massive part in
the depictions of the idea of
Japan because the individual
often feels a sense of affinity
with that animal and are
inspired by the creature’s way
of life. Mythical or not.
Japan is not only famous for the
bustling nightlife of Tokyo or
traditional, authentic designs down in
Kyoto, they have a longstanding
reputation of mythical animals and
their geographic nature.
Water is an essential part of
Japanese culture. You can see wells
and fountains stationed right outside
spectacular shrines and temples to
cleanse people of their worries and
much more.
High on top of the ceilings, residing in
the hearts of the meetings halls in
Buddhism inspired Zen temples are
the images of Dragons. Influence by
the Chinese culture, this mythical
creature revolves around the
geographic territories of Japan.
With the island being constantly
surrounded by waves from all four
sides and the receiver of strong winds,
Dragons which are actually a
combination of creatures it
encountered during the cycle of life, is
seen as the controller of the wind and
water.
Which explains why many firefighters
have taken to tattooing these
creatures. The strength and courage
you need to face these destructive
powerful forces yet it is also the
aspiration for growth and wisdom in
the perspective of the dragon.
