“You have to stay dedicated and work as a team.
We learned this year to appreciate each other’s
differences,” said Inscore.
The annual competition was made possible by
the support of district staff and lead by Susan Pope,
Digital Teaching and Learning Coach. She expressed
that the competition this year was stronger than ever.
“The Battle of the Books team members simply
amaze me. They read 15 books, many several times,
and are able to recall tiny details for those books.
This year the range of final competition scores were
closer than ever,” said Pope.

The Celeste Henkel Elementary School team
continued to represent the district by competing at the
Regional Battle of the Books Competition on April 26,
2018, in Lincolnton, NC. This team was unstoppable
and won the regional competition!
