A Visit with Apple, Inc. On Monday, August 21, 2017, while Iredell-Statesville Schools employees were viewing the solar eclipse outside, the discussions indoors revolved around “What if all the light really left the world?” Dr. Jon Landis and Dr. Eric Wood, Apple, Inc. executives, addressed audiences in two different venues to discuss preparing students for a workplace we cannot yet imagine, and how technology can be used in the classroom to enhance learning and help teachers reach students on different levels. “The real power is with the teachers allowing the technology to be part of their lessons,” explained Dr. Landis. “Technology will create an environment where teachers can be the professionals they really are.” This team from Apple addressed Iredell-Statesville staff and administrators as business leaders, comparing the advent of new tools in the classroom to the invention of electricity. As Dr. Landis closed the presentation, he left the crowd with this thought: “Everyone was afraid the buildings would burn down, but can any of us imagine our lives without that little switch on our walls?” Become a FOSTER PARENT TODAY MAKE A DIFFERENCE 1.855.863.5217 www.chsnc.org/foster Iredell-Statesville School & Family 9
