During the summer, Crosby Scholars partnered with American Legion
Post 65 to help bring Christmas in July to residents of the VA home
in Salisbury. After pizza at the Statesville Post, the group traveled to
Salisbury to deliver cards and gifts. Students also enjoyed playing
bingo with the residents while visiting with the veterans.

Rising 9th and 10th grade scholars might be imagining themselves as
Lees McRae graduating seniors on the very lawn where the college
holds the ceremony! After stopping for a tour here in Banner Elk, the
group continued onto Appalachian State for lunch and a campus tour.

Like most non-profits, volunteers are an essential part of Crosby.
Without the help from our many student and adult volunteers, we
would not be able to successfully carry out our mission!

A panel of parents shared their experiences of the college application
process at the Open House. If you would like to find out what they had

This group of rising 8th grade Crosby Scholars enjoyed some down time
after lunch. The group first visited High Point University and then headed
to Greensboro to see what NC A&T’s campus and dining hall had to offer.

At the Crosby Scholar’s Open House in September, scholars and parents
had the opportunity to meet with community groups to learn about
volunteer opportunities. Here, Angel, from Iredell Museums, shared
information about how to become a volunteer there.

More than 200 attended the Open House in September to learn
more about the Crosby Scholars program and to visit with community
organizations. Thanks to Iredell-Statesville Schools for allowing us to use
the Unity Center for this event.
