Myer profit doubles during first half
Department store Myer registered strong sales growth in its December half – and its profit was the highest since the first half of 2014 .
Sales grew by 24.2 per cent , to $ 1.9 billion while tax-paid profit increased 101.4 per cent , to $ 65 million , over the 26 weeks to 28 January .
In the eight weeks post-Christmas , store sales were up 16.1 per cent , compared with the previous year .
Myer CEO John King described the first-half sales achievement as the “ best on record ”, with improved profitability providing a strong foundation for future growth .
The retailer also reintroduced Country Road brands Witchery , Politix and Mimco into some stores in January .
Myer also announced that it would exit its Queen Street Mall flagship in Brisbane ’ s CBD after unsuccessful negotiations with the landlord on lease renewal terms .

Qantas Loyalty has introduced Qantas Marketplace , a new online shopping experience that allows frequent travellers to earn and spend Qantas Points on 900 luxury and household brands and more than 20,000 products .
Qantas Loyalty says the launch marks the Frequent Flyer program ’ s largest online retail expansion . The platform will showcase Qantas-curated brands and goods in fashion , cosmetics , homewares , appliances and technology .
The new shopping experience – which replaces the Qantas Rewards store – features 20 per cent more brands and more than 1000 more products . Major brands like Apple , Bose and Dyson will remain available on Qantas Marketplace .
“ With Qantas Marketplace , we ’ re connecting [ customers ] to hundreds of brands that they know and love , with the added benefit of being able to earn and use points ,” Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth said . �
Alquemie Group is set to open Disney100 pop-ups in Westfield malls on behalf of The Walt Disney Company .
The pop-ups – which celebrate the American brand ’ s 100th anniversary this year – are designed to treat shoppers to an immersive experience , with Disney100 merchandise toys , apparel , collectibles , homewares and photo opportunities .
Richard Facioni , founder and CEO at Acta Capital and executive chair of Alquemie Group , stated on LinkedIn that it was a “ great privilege ” to be selected by The Walt Disney Company .
The first Disney store pop-up is on Level 5 of Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney .
