Over what has been an incredibly challenging 12 months we have seen the great Aussie spirit come to the fore – never more so than in the people and brands of the Australian Retail Sector . It has been inspiring to see your entrepreneurial spirit shining through as you continue to rise to the challenges of a rapidly changing environment and fluctuating consumer demand .
The team here at CommBank have observed incredible levels of innovation taking place across the sector . There are countless inspiring stories of brands rethinking their operations , their channel delivery and their business models , while rapidly implementing new technology to ensure the supply of goods and services was maintained throughout even the most challenging periods of the pandemic .
It is always a great honour for CommBank to partner with Inside Retail for the annual Retailer Awards . This year it provided us all with the opportunity to reflect on what has been one of the most challenging times in our nation ’ s history , and to recognise the outstanding service excellence which has been achieved across the sector .
As part of the judging panel for the 2021 Awards , I personally found it uplifting to see the resilience and resourcefulness of those working in what is a vitally important sector of the Australian economy . The focus on providing service excellence was evident time and again , as brands went above and beyond not only for their customers , but also for their people .
