McDonald ’ s Japan names Thomas Ko next president McDonald ’ s Japan has selected Thomas Ko as its next president , following the departure of former chair Sarah Casanova .
Joining McDonald ’ s in 2010 , Ko has previously held leadership positions in the company . He used to serve as director of consumer strategy for the Apac , Middle East , and Africa regions . He then worked in senior positions at McDonald ’ s in South Korea and Portugal .
The new president succeeds Tamotsu Hiiro , who becomes chair of McDonald ’ s Japan .
Former president Casanova resigned as chair of both the holding firm and the operating subsidiary , as she wanted to spend more time with her family .

Shopee admits violating Indonesian monopoly laws Indonesia ' s antitrust regulator said in a statement that e-commerce company Shopee acknowledged violating a monopoly regulation for its courier service in Indonesia .
The agency also stated that Shopee has agreed to make changes to its business practices .
Shopee did not immediately reply to a request for comment on the agency ' s statement .
The agency , known as KPPU , had accused Shopee ’ s local unit of violating anti-competition rules by directing customers to use certain delivery services , one of which has a Shopee Indonesia executive on its board of directors .
