Instacart US-based grocery delivery and pick-up service Instacart has taken a public equity-focused approach to achieve equality in all of its systems , prioritising diversity in race , ethnicity and gender .
Here ’ s how Instacart has outlined its strategy for evolving into a retailer that champions diversity , equity and not inclusion but belonging :

Instacart has emerged as a leader in the retail industry for diversity , equity and inclusion through its loud and proud approach to employee advocacy .
“ I believe that everyone has something truly unique to bring to the table ,” Instacart CEO Fidji Simo shared in a statement on the company ’ s website . “ I also believe that teams do their best work when they ’ re made up of a diverse group of people who respect one another in their uniqueness and shine a spotlight on what makes every person special .
“ The fact is that diverse teams have an edge – the diversity of lived experiences simply makes for better decision-making . At Instacart , we want to ensure the people building and making decisions about our products and services are representative of the diverse communities we serve .”
Instacart has taken its approach to belonging and inclusion one step further with its Employee Resource Groups ( ERGs ). They serve as safe spaces for the many diverse communities within the Instacart workforce . Employees can find a group of colleagues with a shared identity and lean on them for support and growth . There are groups for Black employees , women , LGBTQ +, Latinx , parents , Asians , advocates , people with disabilities and military members .
Instacart ’ s commitment to DEI has proven that the retailer is not interested in meeting a quota or checking a box , it has approached building a company the same way it would approach a business goal . ►
