Allergies and special diets

Allergies are a common problem for a lot of people. 30-35% of the world population has an allergy and the number is increasing. Allergy is an overreaction of the immune system to a harmless substance and everyone reacts differently. The types of allergies can for example be food or pet allergies.

Food allergies appear the most with babies and children, but they can appear at any age. Sometimes with children they are an allergy is only momentary. Allergies tend to run in the family and the symptoms can be mild or severe. The most common foods that cause allergic reactions are nuts, fish, milk and eggs.

Pet allergy symptoms are for example sneezing, a runny nose and coughing. Pet allergies can be treated with antihistamines. The most common pet allergies are cat and dog allergies.
