The Los Angeles–based actor, who was featured in Vogue’s December issue, gave us a glimpse of his life when he’s not on set, starting with his daily workout regimen in his garage. (The trick to a perfect punch: turn it.) Jordan then walked us around his sunny home and divulged everything from his dream costar (Leonardo DiCaprio) to his surprisingly tame favorite beverage (apple juice). We even get to meet his parents, Donna and Michael A. Jordan, who he says taught him compassion.

Jordan is well known for his role as Wallace on HBO’s The Wire and stars alongside Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman in Marvel Studios’s upcoming Black Panther. “I really think it’s a movie you haven’t seen from Marvel just yet,” he says. While the film isn’t lacking in action, Jordan said his most physically taxing assignment was acting opposite Sylvester Stallone in Creed. How many punches did he take filming the Rocky sequel? “Probably more than I should [have],” he jokes.

He tells us that he doesn’t have a celebrity crush, but his dating rules include picking up the tab and making sure the lucky lady never touches a doorknob. The craziest rumor Jordan has ever heard about himself: that he doesn’t date black women. Jordan reveals that he loves to iron and that his favorite actress is Meryl Streep. Michael B. Jordan just won our hearts over, big time.
