ION INDIE MAGAZINE September 2016, Volume 28 | Page 4

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Music by SOUTHERN EXPERIENCE “Southern Experience” September is here—a time of change. For some, September signals the changing of atmosphere. Summer sand is replaced by Fall leaves; which give way to Winter snow. For others, it means a change of schedule…school is in session! Here at ION Indie Magazine, change is also in the air. As we evolve as a magazine, we are also growing and expanding our horizons. What began as a magazine has become a MOVEMENT that extends past our pages. ION Indie Magazine now has a whole new division--“EYE ON JAMZ”! It began with the development of our own independent music video show by that name, but has now morphed into another exciting platform—“EYE ON JAMZ RADIO”! This new venture is being headed and hosted by ION Indie Magazine columnist (“CHAOS’S CORNER”) and new Assistant Editor, SHAWN PETERS! Shawn’s show has found a home at none other than our valued broadcast partner, NEUE REGEL RADIO. Read about it in this sizzling September! “Eye On Jamz” Radio debuted on August 23, 2016, and will broadcast every Tuesday at 4:00-6:00 p.m. EST. It will feature music from our very pages and other new, exciting sounds by various independent artists of all genres. Congrats, Shawn--thanks for all you do! And a huge shout of gratitude goes out to MICHAEL PRESTI, owner of NRR, for providing “Eye On Jamz” a home base of operations. This September edition features the New England band LONE WOLF JAMES! Senior Photojournalist MARK MYERS provides our readers the lowdown on this hard-rockin’, edgy group. Check out Mark’s article and his enthralling photography inside these pages! Managing Editor and Senior Photojournalist JB Bridges and I will be travelling to Columbia, South Carolina on September 10th to cover a very meaningful event. It is meaningful on two fronts—first, because it benefits the charity “No Greater Sacrifice”— which provides educational support to the children of our fallen and wounded Service men and women. But there is an additional pride and satisfaction about this particular event for this editor, as the artists that are performing to support this charity have both appeared on the cover of ION Indie Magazine! There has been much going on behind the scenes to make this performance by Official CMT Artist ASHLEY WINELAND (December 2014) and award-winning SOUTHERN EXPERIENCE (April 2016) a reality. Working in conjunction with ANITA SAYAGO of EDANA ENTERTAINMENT, a show was organized that is surely to be a sizzling performance for the attendees and successful fundraiser for this worthy charity. The show is hosted by BETA THETA PI at THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA. We will be on hand to bring you all the sights and sounds in our October 2016 edition…be looking for it! “Music isn’t what I do, it’s who I am. Music is a life force that beats within. It permeates the senses and encompasses the spirit. Music transcends. It heals the heart, purges the soul and provides refuge from pain. Music is immortal.” ~The Fairy Rock Mother Kiki Plesha CEO/Editor-in-Chief The Fairy Rock Mother ION Indie Magazine
