A DOUBLE WAMI
No. That wasn’t a typo. It's an acronym and a play on words—WAMI--like Grammy. It stands for WISCONSIN AREA MUSIC
INDUSTRY. As the name implies, WAMI is a regional music industry association made mainly of bands, musicians, vendors,
venues, producers, engineers, recording studios, music stores, guitar shops, magazines, newsletters and journalists--among
others. Basically, anybody associated with music can be and are members. WAMI hosts an annual award ceremony, much in
the tradition of THE GRAMMY AWARDS, with its members casting votes in categories ranging from “Best Male or Female
Vocalist” to “Best Rock or Hip Hop”--or “name-your-genre” group…to the “Best Venue” or “Best Recording Studio of the Year”.
