ION INDIE MAGAZINE September 2015, Volume 16 | Page 29
On July 23rd, here in El Paso,
Texas, PAT BENATAR and NEIL
GIRALDO brought
their
35TH
ANNIVERSARY TOUR to THE PLAZA
THEATER—and needless to say, it
was a sold out show! The show
started right on time, which is
something I really do like, and Pat
and Neil had this audience on
their feet right from the start with
songs like, "Shadows of the Night",
"All Fired Up" and " Invincible".
Now, I have seen Pat Benatar four
times in the 80's back in
Tampa, Florida, and truth be told,
her stage presence and voice
hasn't changed one bit--she was
definitely on point. I was very
impressed! It is acts of this caliber
that I truly enjoy covering—acts
that have withstood the hands of
time…a show that takes you
down memory lane, if you will. A show, that when you leave the venue, you
feel totally moved, for the artist just could not have given you anymore than
they did. In other words, you got your money’s worth! And that was the case on
that hot and humid night here in El Paso, Texas!
I have always been a fan of Pat, and who wasn't? If you listened to the radio
and watched MTV back in the day, you couldn't help it! Covering these shows
for ION Indie Magazine, I never pay to get in, my credentials take care of that.
But make no mistake, this was a show I would have gladly forked over the coin
for a ticket to bask in Pat's presence--just for that hour and a half…it truly is a
slice of heaven!
